We reach the heart of Libra season on September 25th, with the New Moon in the sign of the scales. Ordinarily, this would be an excellent time to draw a new relationship to you, but Mercury is currently 'wretched out,' and Venus (the ruler of Libra) is not at her best in Virgo.
This month’s candle ritual works for those looking for a partner and those in committed relationships. You will be doing some cleansing magic to create your fresh start. If you are in a relationship, you can use the New Moon to reset (such a lovely Mercury Rx word) the energies to create one more fulfilling and dynamic.
Candle Ritual for a Fresh Start in your Relationship
For this ritual, you will need the Heart Blessed Herbal candle, the Spiritual Cleansing Blessed Herbal candle, Love’s Enchantment Blessed Herbal candle, three candleholders, a picture of you and your partner, or if you are single, a picture of you and a description of your ideal partner.
Do this candle ritual with your partner if you can, it will work better for both of you. This ritual starts with lighting the heart candle, saying the blessing on the label, or some other prayer that will uplift you both. Ask for the golden light of protection to surround each of you. While the candle is burning, speak of the things in your heart, both wonderful and challenging about the relationship. It’s important that you both be active listeners and don’t interrupt each other. Leave being defensive at the door. This is time to clear the air and not time to defend your position. If something comes up that triggers you, take a deep breath, make a note and then schedule a time to talk it out. You can also bring it to the next step in this candle ritual.
For all of you single ladies and gentlemen, speak about what didn’t work in previous relationships and what you are looking for in a new relationship. Don’t forget to mention the mistakes you made and what you learned from them.
When you are done with this step, keep the Heart candle burning, and now light the Spiritual Cleansing candle. While this candle is burning, be open to healing and releasing negative thoughts and feelings. This is the time you and your partner let go of the past and forgive each other. Have a gentle conversation, but don’t let it turn into a fight. This ritual is for creating space for a fresh start. Seek out a relationship counselor to help you through the deal breakers.
Single people will use the Spiritual Cleansing candle to release hurts from past relationships. Spend time letting all that go. The past is the past. Forgive them, forgive yourself, and close the door.
When that feels complete, and while keeping both candles going, light the Love’s Enchantment candle. This is where the fun begins. Tell each other why you fell in love with them or “in like” if this is not a romantic relationship. Reminisce about the good times you’ve had. Rekindle plans you’ve made for the future. Let the love flow. Give love, receive love. Keep it balanced between the two of you.

When you are done, keep the three candles burning for about three hours if you can. Never leave a burning candle unattended. You can relight the candles again tomorrow. Burn them until they are gone. Now go and celebrate your fresh start!
