How to Build a Protection Candle and Stone Grid for Your Home

We all want to feel safe and secure in our homes. We have locks on our doors and windows and sometimes we purchase home security systems. Do you protect the energy in your home too? Crystal grids are a great way to set up an energetic boundary that keeps out unwanted or negative vibrations from the neighbors or anyone who means harm.

My first crystal and candle grid did not use one of those lovely laser-cut templates you can find now, instead, I placed the stones and the candles around my home while creating an energetic grid to cleanse and protect. I used the candles to define the energy flow and the crystals were charged and programmed to hold that energy in place. I have done this with clear quartz, rose quartz, selenite, and fieldstones.

To build your home protection candle and stone grid you will need the following things.

Eight white candles (either votives dressed with spiritual cleansing oil or blessed votives) and eight stones of your choice dressed with the protection oil.

Follow these steps to create your own grid to cleanse the energy and protect your home.

1. Starting in the center of your home, set up all candles in their holders and the stones. Dress the candles and stones while inviting in your guardian protectors. Pair up the candles and stones. 
   • One for the heart of the home
   • One for each direction (north, south, east, west)
   • One for above
   • One for below
   • One to connect the energy.

State your words of power over your candles and stones. Words of power are affirmations, prayers, or poems that express the intention of the spell. Since this is a cleansing and protection spell, you will be stating that your home is cleared of unhealthy or harmful energies and protected from new negativity entering your home.

2. Light one votive to be your heart candle. Place its companion stone with it. Light your connection candle from the heart candle, and touch the connection stone to the heart stone. Place the connection candle and stone in one hand and carry the south votive and stone to the south wall of your home. 
3. Place the candle and stone in the south, say your words of power, light the candle with the connection candle, and touch the connection stone to the south stone. Walk clockwise through your home back to the heart candle.
4. Take the west candle and stone, with the connection candle and stone, clockwise past the south wall, to the west wall of your home. Place them in a safe spot, say your words of power, light the west candle with the connection candle, and touch the connection stone to the west stone. Walk clockwise through your home back to the heart candle.
5. Take the north candle and stone, with the connection candle and stone, walk clockwise past the south wall and west wall to the north wall of your home. Place them in a safe spot, say your words of power, light the north candle with the connection candle, and touch the connection stone to the north stone. Walk clockwise through your home back to the heart candle.
6. Take the east candle and stone, with the connection candle and stone, walk clockwise past the south wall, west wall, and north wall to the east wall of your home. Place them in a safe spot, say your words of power, light the east candle with the connection candle, and touch the connection stone to the east stone. Walk clockwise through your home back to the heart candle.
7. Touch the connection stone to the heart stone and the flames of the heart and connector candles together. Say your words of power, light the above candle with the connector candle, and touch the above stone with the connector stone. Light the below candle with the connector candle, and touch the below stone with the connector stone.
8. Touch the connection stone to the heart stone and the flames of the heart and connector candles together. Walk the above and below candles, clockwise, past all of the directional candles. Set them with the heart and connector candles and stones in the center of the house. Say your words of power one more time.
9. Sit in meditation and visualize the grid in and around your home, filling it with divine protection energy and displacing any discordant energy. When you feel the grid is firmly in place, extinguish the candles one by one in the same order you lit them. Place the stones where they will not be disturbed and the candles on your altar.
10. Relight the candles every day until they are consumed to anchor the grid in your home.
