Letting go of the year from hell

Blog2itsYourFuneralIf there has been an energetic theme to 2017, it seems it would be the topic of loss. This year has felt like a constant transition, each cycle leaving us feeling more deficient, you can feel it in the air, a collective sadness, that lurks underneath our daily routines.

Ideals have been crushed, dreams dissipated, and relationships torn apart. It's honestly been a year from hell, and we’re so glad it's almost over. Looking forward towards 2018, it's difficult to feel as though things will get better, and they won't, unless we properly process, mourn, and let go of the losses we’ve experienced. It's time for your funeral 2017!

We’re not joking, we’re actually going to throw a funeral for 2017.

Hop off social media for a second, forget the impassioned rants you’ve read or participated in so far today, turn off the TV and set up a sacred space in a quiet, dimly-lit room. Burn some herbs, decorate it with flowers, dress in black, whatever gives you some funeral vibes. Sit in the middle of the room and think about what your hopes and dreams for this year were. Focus your mind on the disappointments and defeats, allow yourself to process whatever emotion they fill you with, be it rage, bitterness or sadness. Light the Affirmations Grief candle, as well as two small black candles. Project your confusion and anger into the flames. Focus on your burdens and express them, cry, scream, do whatever you have to do to release that pain. Allow the energy of the candle to help you process your emotions, cleanse you, and lift up your soul. When you feel your emotional purge coming to a close, begin to breathe deeply, find tranquility in each inhale and exhale. Reach for calm, and bring it to you. Then take a pair of scissors and begin to cut the anger and negativity out of your energy. Envision it moving away from you. Once you feel that your negative feelings have been drained and removed, sage yourself, or use whatever herb or wash you prefer to cleanse with. Set positive intentions for the upcoming year, and then each day begin to take steps to make that affirmation a reality.
